Brenda Gay Simmons: Coffee... Drink it or Paint With it!
Artist Statement:
My paintings are of mixed mediums, but my favorites are those fall “outside
the box”, such as COFFEE, tea, and homemade organic stains. I enjoy the
freedom of letting these liquids flow freely, blend together, and finally dry,
leaving a unique and beautiful watermark. The use of these environmentally
friendly mediums helps me to connect with Mother Earth and to share Her
beauty with others, through the expression of art.
Degrees in both Drafting and Design Technology and Earth/Space Science, Brenda Gay Simmons was lead to start her own art business as a courtroom graphic illustrator. In her spare time, she was a local high school teacher and swimming instructor. As her two daughters embarked, grew up, and started their own families, Brenda was able to reenter the life of creating. She paints using various disciplines, but her most recent technique is painting with her morning COFFEE! She has taken workshops from several local artists, and with a desire to continue her art journey, applied for and received the Bower Center's fourth Suzie Viemeister Emerging Artist Residency.
